Boss Chris Wilder quickly turned his attentions to Tuesday's trip to Reading following Friday night's disappointment.
The United chief was scathing in his assessment of the defeat at Hull City but he is now back at Shirecliffe planning for the trip to Madejski Stadium.
"We will now pick a team for Tuesday. The majority of the game is based on desire and it is tough when you are tired but we need that inner drive and enthusiasm. We need to forget about Hull.
"I'm looking to see what the players are about and if we can have a strong end to the season.
"I want to keep going forward, if people think we are overachieving or not, it is never enough, it hurts me when we lose any game of football."
