Chris Wilder was delighted to see the Blades get up and running with a victory at QPR on Saturday.
Speaking in the aftermath of the victory at Loftus Road, sealed by second-half David McGoldrick penalty, the Blades boss felt his side deserved their win.
He remarked: "Any victory or any result for Sheffield United in my view is a fantastic one.
"For the players and more important for the 2,000 supporters that have backed us once again after two poor results, it gives everyone a boost and enables us to all enjoy the weekend.
"We're really having problems with character aren't we? We have done for the last two years. We've not shown any desire or bottle, we're fighting in the changing room every week!
"People make assumptions, but my players will always run about for this football club and they've shown people who might be doubting them with that performance."
Wilder added: "It was a Sheffield United type performance, plenty of grit, desire and determination, with a little bit of football played too and great scenes at the end.
"I just want to win games wherever we are, whether it be in pre-season, the league or the cup.
"We've just got to keep our cool, stay calm and get through these periods because the expectations levels have gone through the roof over the past two years, but I accept that because we've achieved some good things during that period."
