Chris Wilder has described Billy Sharp as the 'absolute perfect captain'.
The Blades skipper started the first two games of the season on the bench, but has netted two goals in his last two appearances, meaning he is set to start in Saturday's home clash against Norwich City.
Wilder remarked: "It's great for Bill and as I've said before I want reaction from players, I don't want them to sulk and Billy has been the absolute perfect captain.
"We felt it was right to go with Leon and David McGoldrick, their form in pre-season had been excellent and it looked a decent partnership, but players have to be ready to prove me wrong.
"Billy can't do any more than what he has done, he scored at QPR, then got a goal on Tuesday, so one thing is for sure, the captain will play on Saturday and he is a great example of what I want, I want fighters and winners."
The boss added: "I'm sure Billy motivation is with the football club and at heart rather than reacting to me, we've not got that relationship, I'm delighted with him and I need 22 or 23 players like him, the same goes for someone like Richard Stearman, who has shown an outstanding attitude.
"I will always put the team first, the best players for any particular game will play and hopefully we'll go again on Saturday."
