Chris Wilder is refusing to write off the Blades chances of making the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's clash against Middlesbrough, who are currently sixth and four points better off than the Blades, Wilder acknowledges his side need a big result, but he is adamant they are capable of getting it.

The Gaffer remarked: "We shouldn't have to be relying on results from elsewhere, not just over the weekend, but for much of the season really.

"Saturday was a big missed opportunity, but as I've said for a long time I really enjoy watching my side play and they show a fantastic never-say-die attitude."

Wilder added: "We also put in a huge effort at Brentford and against Cardiff and we just have to go again on Tuesday night, that's our only option.

"That's something that we will do and maybe we can upset those who are fancied to do well. People will look at us and think it has slipped away, but we have the opportunities and power to hopefully affect that situation this week."
