United's U23s made it five games without defeat by beating Colchester on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Harvey Gilmour and Tyler Smith either side of half-time saw the Blades claim the spoils at the SteelPhalt Academy, despite the concession of a late penalty.
The first-half was a tight affair as United struggled to break the visitors down, but enjoyed the majority of the possession, with half chances for Oure and Smith not coming to anything.
United did break the deadlock just before half time as GILMOUR picked up the ball 20 yards out and smashed into the corner.
The second-half was much more open with Colchester forced to come out and chase the game.
United doubled the lead on 49 minutes as Doherty played a great ball in behind the defence for SMITH to dribble past the goalkeeper and apply the finish.
United continued to search for goals with Smith coming close. Substitute Kelly was proving a handful for the Colchester backline as he came close on a couple of occasions but his shots flew just wide and over respectively.
Another substitute Potts almost made it three towards the end of the game but his stabbed effort went over the bar.
The visitors got themselves a consolation in injury time as Portman handled in the area and the resulting penalty was converted, but United deservedly claimed the points.
