Richard Stearman insists the Blades won't give up in pursuit of a play-off place, despite it appearing a tall order ahead of Saturday's clash against fellow contenders Preston North End.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the experienced defender remarked: "It's obviously going to be a tough ask, we need to pick up two wins and hope results go our way elsewhere, but we'll keep fighting until the end and hopefully we can sneak back in there.

"We've missed a couple of big opportunities and the result at Derby the other night has made it very difficult for us, but even if it isn't possible, we still want to win games and see where it takes us."

Stearman added: "We had a great start and it would be a disappointment not to make the play-offs, but at the same time we shouldn't forget how well we actually have done.

"It's gone to be a massive disappointment if we do fall short, but we've also worked extremely hard and people should be congratulated for what has been achieved."
