Chris Wilder hopes to have top scorer Leon Clarke available again for Saturday's clash against Preston North End at Bramall Lane.
The 18-goal marksman missed last week's loss at Birmingham City with a back problem, but he could be recalled as Wilder targets a morale boosting victory over the Lilywhites.
The Gaffer commented: "Leon has trained this week and he'll be raring to go following his back problem.
"We've got no injuries from the Birmingham game, but I've got to pick the right side for Saturday.
"It was a long weekend after the defeat last week and a painful one too, but the players reaction and attitude this week has been outstanding as it has been all season."
Wilder added: "I've got to say they've picked me up rather than me picking them up and I could see how much they've been hurting.
"I made some harsh comments in the aftermath of the game at Birmingham and perhaps I should have taken a step back and reflected.
"Having done so, I know this group of players has given me everything this season and more importantly they've given the supporters some fantastic entertainment and memories."
