Richard Stearman sees no reason why the Blades won't be able to building on a promising first term back in the Championship.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's final home game of this campaign, the experienced defender believes United can kick on again.
He remarked: "We certainly want to replicate and better what we've achieved this season.
"With the experience of this season and hopefully a few additions, we'll be a forced to be reckoned with next term.
Looking at Saturday's opponents, Preston North End, Stearman drew similarities between Alex Neil's side and the Blades.
He added: "Preston are similar to us really and they've had a great season. They've not spent masses of money and their budget is probably less than a lot of teams that they are above.
"They've got a close-knit group like we have and they should be congratulated on how close they've got to the top-six.
"They might be disappointed, like we, not to be in the play-offs, but they will also know they've enjoyed a great season."
