Chris Wilder could be forced into a defensive change for Saturday's trip to Oakwell, but hopes for a fitness boost elsewhere.
Defender Richard Stearman (hamstring) is a doubt for the Yorkshire derby, having come off with the compliant on Easter Monday.
Wilder explained: "Richard will have a scan on Thursday and we're hopeful it might not be as bad as we feared on Monday night.
"He's been fantastic this season as Rich, he's been a calming influence with all his experience, but if he doesn't make Saturday we have options.
"Jake Wright has been great in my time here and we've also got other options too.
"But we'll only know the extent of Richard's injury on the back of the scans."
At the other end of the pitch, Wilder hopes both Mark Duffy and David Brooks will be fit for selection.
The Gaffer added: "Hopefully Duffy is back in the squad for the weekend, he'll train before then and we'll assess him.
"David played 90 minutes for Wales U21s, but that would have been different to playing Cardiff City, but he will continue to play a big part for us.
"Wherever he plays he has the ability and movement to be a threat and we're really hoping he can kick on."
