Chris Wilder was quick to signal out in-form striker Leon Clarke for praise following another brace.
The experienced marksman scored twice for the second game running and Wilder says he never doubted that the 32-year-old striker could make a mark at this level.
He commented: "Leon has had a well-publicised and much travelled career, but look at the supporters to see what they think of him.
"We said all along he was great at the start of last season, he played when injured and was on fire at the end of the campaign. He is a popular boy.
"He wants to marry up good performances which he has consistently shown with goals and we've always believed Leon could handle playing in the division, arguably he is getting better the older he gets."
On the backing the players are receiving from the terraces, Wilder added: "I want to see the players enjoy playing for this fantastic football club because that's what it is. The atmosphere at times against Wolves was incredible.
"They are taking their backing to a new level and they are seeing a team giving it everything. They enjoy seeing front foot football and we're based on a lot of attributes, but togetherness is at the top of the list."
