Sheffield United continue to liaise with officers from South Yorkshire and Cleveland police forces following incidents in and around Middlesbrough's ground at the first away match of the season.
Blades representatives have been working alongside counterparts from Boro to identify individuals involved in skirmishes towards the end and after the fixture at the Riverside last month.
A club spokesman said: "Good progress is being made in identifying the individuals concerned. Where this involves Blades fans we will not hesitate in taking the harshest possible punishment against those whose actions blacken the good name of our Club and the vast majority of our supporters who follow Sheffield United week in week out without the slightest hint of trouble or aggression. They are ruining the game for the genuine fans and we aim to bring this type of behaviour to an end."
