If Carlsberg did debuts... Clayton Donaldson's Blades bow certainly couldn't have gone much better.

The striker, signed on deadline day from Birmingham City, bagged a decisive brace, as the Blades left the Stadium of Light with all three points after deservedly overcoming Simon Grayson's Sunderland.

And the 33-year-old had a massive smile on his face post-match.

Speaking to the assembled media, he remarked: "I couldn't have asked for a better start really. The manager just wanted me to do what I've been doing for the last three or four seasons and I hope I did that.

"I've trained a few times with the lads and things clicked straight away for me, I felt comfortable in my role and we played well as a team."

Donaldson continued: "For the first goal, Billy knows I like to get in behind down when I can and I just had Wilson to beat. It was a one versus one situation and once I had opened him up I knew I could get a shot away and to see it trickle in was great. The fans were terrific and to score in front of them was extra sweat."

"For the second one, Brooksy has stood the defender up and slipped me in, I felt a tweak in my hamstring and another as I got to the ball, but thankfully the goalkeeper has come out and my shot has beaten him.

"The main goal was the three points, but to score twice and win the game too makes it a near perfect day, I just wish I could have stayed on and completed my hat-trick!"
