Clayton Donaldson admits it was a rush to beat last week's transfer deadline, but says he is looking forward to the future at Bramall Lane having penned a deal, initially until the end of the season.
Donaldson's arrival from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee was announced just before the window slammed shut and the experienced forward admits it was a frantic evening.
He remarked: "It was a last-minute deal really. I knew of United's interest a couple of days before deadline day, but it wasn't until the Thursday that things became clear and I knew it was time to move on.
"It was all a bit of a rush as you would expect trying to get the deal done in time. The goalposts moved a few times and I was just sitting waiting.
The 33-year-old, who could make his debut at Sunderland on Saturday added: "I got the call from my agent to get to Sheffield at 8pm and I arrived just after 10pm. I then had to have a medical, get the papers signed and make sure we beat the clock.
"It was one to remember for me personally as it is my first deadline day move."
