David Brooks is refusing to get carried away with his progression at Bramall Lane and has thanked 'some big characters' for making his transition into the first-team squad a smooth one.

Speaking after a man of the match winning display against Norwich City last Saturday, the Wales U21 international commented: "My aim is to play as much as possible, but the Gaffer has a strong squad to pick from and it's up to him to pick a team to win games.

"But I just want to keep putting my name in the mix for a place in the squad and hopefully the starting XI.

"There are some big characters in the squad and they've made it so easy for me to integrate myself into the group, so I can't praise them enough really."

Looking ahead to Sunday's trip across the city, Brooks added: "Sunday doesn't need amplifying up, it's a Sheffield derby, it's a big game for both teams and everyone wants to play in those games. If called upon I would be delighted to feature.

"The skipper and manager are both from Sheffield, but the rest of us know how important it is too and we'll be going out there to win."
