United Ladies were able to emulate the first-team this weekend by also going third in their respective league after displacing The New Saints on Sunday.
United made two changes to the side that went out of the League Cup last week with Eve Marshall and Alex Hickerman back in the starting.
TNS had met United before in the old Midland Combination League a decade ago when known by there then sponsor Total Network Solutions and had the division's top goalscorer Emily Ridge leading their attack for their visit to the SteelPhalt Academy .
United had a perfect afternoon though with Nat Shaw scoring twice on 19 minutes with a tap in and 44 minutes when set up by Kim Brown to send United in 2-0 at the break.
That brace took Shaw to 13 goals in 12 United games this season and gained her player of the match.
United remained in control and having freshened their eleven up with a trio of substitutions, hit TNS twice again in quick succession.
Kim Brown made it three on 75 minutes, followed by sub Tania Marsden two minutes later to complete the scoring.
Manager Dan O'Hearne remarked: "It was a good, solid display against dangerous opposition. The most pleasing aspect was the clean sheet and keeping the league's top scorer quiet in a game we thoroughly deserved to win."
Next Sunday, United host fifth place Burton Albion at the SteelPhalt Academy.
Blades: Houldsworth, Robinson, Froggatt, Marshall, Brown, Bell, Spurr ( Hartley ), Hickerman, Kenyon (Beanland ), Pearson, Shaw ( Marsden).
