Boss Chris Wilder says he and the medical staff are 'delighted' with the most recent prognosis of Kieron Freeman's knee injury.
Following the incident in the first-half of last Saturday's win over Ipswich Town, which saw him stretchered off, there were fears the wing-back could miss a big portion of the season.
But following scans, Wilder expects the 25-year-old to be back in action much sooner. The Gaffer remarked: "Hopefully, Kieron will only be out for six to eight weeks, which is really good news.
"He's got another scan, because there is still a little bit of swelling and they need to test the ligament on the side of his knee, but it's exceeded all our hopes, because the fear is when you dislocate your knee there's all sorts of damage.
"We're delighted, in a strange sort of way, with what we've been told about Kieron."
