Mark Duffy believes the Blades caught Reading 'off guard' in the first-half of Saturday's victory at Bramall Lane.

The experienced midfielder, who grabbed an assist for Billy Sharp's goal, also felt United were full value for the success of Jaap Stam's Royals.

He remarked: "We started the game really well and the Gaffer had said he wanted us to get out of the blocks quick and we caught them off guard.

"We were superb in the first-half and deserved more than the two goals we scored.

"Couttsy's was a terrific strike and Billy finishes off a great move for the second."

Duffy added: "Reading threw caution to the wind in the second-half and they were always going to have a spell in the game.

"We defended well though and were disappointed to give them hope, but in the end we saw it out and got another thoroughly deserved victory."
