Jack O'Connell says signing a new four-and-a-half-year contract to remain a Blade until 2022 was a 'no-brainer'.
On Wednesday morning the news was confirmed that the 23-year-old had become the eighth player since July to pen new terms.
And the popular defender says there is nowhere else he'd want to play his football, commenting: "I'm over the moon to get it done.
"When the Gaffer pulled me into his office and said he wanted to extend my contract it was a no-brainer for me.
"I've been relaxed about it, I knew I had two-and-a-half years left on my contract anyway, but when the Gaffer brought it up I didn't hesitate in committing for longer.
"It is a big commitment from the club to me and vice-versa and I want to repay the faith that's been shown in me through my performances on the pitch."
O'Connell added: "I could imagine the club coming this far so quickly when I signed, but it was a difficult start and a slow one for me personally.
"But this is a fantastic club, with a great group of players and a tremendous staff and we've worked extremely hard for the success we've enjoyed."
