Season Review - October 2016

1 June 2017

As the season review continues into October, another unbeaten month saw the Blades end it 11 games without defeat in Sky Bet League One, to sit fourth in the table entering November.

A dramatic last-gasp equaliser from Ethan Ebanks-Landell earnt a deserved point at Fleetwood Town, as Chris Wilder charge down the line to celebrate ala Jose Mourinho!

Defeat in the Checkatrade Trophy at the hands of Walsall followed, but normal service was resumed following an enforced international break as Port Vale were handsomely beaten 4-0, although but for disallowed efforts, it could have been eight!

A double from Billy Sharp either side of Daniel Lafferty's first for the Blades saw United beat Shrewsbury 3-0 in Shropshire, before a thrilling derby against Bradford City in West Yorkshire saw the spoils shared with Chris Basham netting the equaliser, after another Sharp brace.

October ended at the Lane with a 2-1 success over the MK Dons. Stefan Scougall opened the scoring, before skipper Sharp slotted home the winner after Darren Potter had briefly restored parity.
