Season Review - November 2016

2 June 2017

The season review rolls into November and although league action didn't commence until the middle of the month, a further 10 points were gained from a possible 15 as the Blades ended the month in third place.

The penultimate month of 2016 began with a 6-0 FA Cup first round drubbing of Leyton Orient, a game in which Harry Chapman helped himself to a first ever senior hat-trick against the struggling O's.

United's Checkatrade Trophy campaign ended with a 4-2 win at Grimsby Town, as Regan Slater became the Blades youngest ever scorer in a competitive game, on his debut.

A trip to Chesterfield followed and four second-half goals, including John Fleck's first as a Blade saw United come from behind to register a comfortable 4-1 success.

Back-to-back home games against Shrewsbury Town and Bury brought six more points in games that were packed with incident and excitement.

The Shrews had two men sent off in the first-half, whilst Bury almost held out with nine-men, until Ethan Ebanks-Landell popped up with the winner in front of the Kop in the 94th minute.

A stoppage-time goal denied Chris Wilder's men victory in the capital against Charlton, despite Mark Duffy's goal and the month ended with a rare defeat, but somehow bogey side Walsall managed to leave the Lane with all three points!
