Season Review - March 2017

8 June 2017

Six games in the month of March, including four away fixtures was always going to test United's promotion credentials, but unsurprisingly Chris Wilder's side passed them with flying colours, picking up 11 points and remaining unbeaten.

A six-goal thriller against Rochdale at Spotland got things underway, as United had to settle for a point against Keith Hill's men despite leading 2-0 and 3-2.

But three days later the Blades returned to winning ways, as a Billy Sharp brace and another goal from Kieron Freeman helped United overcome Oxford, who had led 1-0 at the break.

A blank weekend because of Millwall's FA Cup involvement gave the Blades a chance to recharge and they made no mistake when they left Wiltshire with all three points following a comfortable 4-2 success over struggling Swindon Town.

After three away games in the space of ten days, United continued to march towards promotion as Jack O'Connell and Daniel Lafferty scored the goals that saw off Charlton Athletic, despite a Ricky Holmes opener.

A crucial point was gained at a sandy Boundary Park, before the month ended with a deserved victory over Millwall at the Lane, with O'Connell and Freeman the scorers in a 2-0 success.
