Chris Wilder has confirmed that John Brayford can leave Bramall Lane this summer.
Brayford, who spent nearly all last season on-loan at Burton Albion playing under Nigel Clough has returned to Shirecliffe with the rest of the squad this week, but Wilder says he has spoken to the player about his future.
The manager revealed: "I've spoken to John and he understands he's available for transfer.
"We have continual dialogue with all the players, both those in and out of the team.
"John played his football away from Bramall Lane last season and did well. But we are trying to strengthen in that area and I don't see him as part of the plans."
Wilder added: "He is our player though and if he doesn't move on then he will remain in the building and be treated properly as a Sheffield United player."
