New COO speaks for the first time

Following confirmation of his appointment, Chief Operating Officer Andy Birks has spoken for the first time.

Upon the news breaking of his position amongst United's senior off the field management, Birks remarked: "I'm delighted to be here. Having been a fan all my life, this is my dream job.

"My background is quite varied. I've worked in distribution, retail and also IT.

"The opportunity for the club is not just on the field success, but also off the field the many different business the club has involvement in.

"We want the fans to have a fantastic experience with the club and utilise those facilities with the club."

The lifelong Blade added: "I've been a fan all my life, I was a mascot at seven and I did my work experience in the Pools office at 15. I made more teas and coffees then than ever before.

"I've been all over the country, I've seen the highs and the lows and last season at the MK Dons was one of the best atmospheres I've ever witnessed."
