Chris Wilder says he is 'delighted' with Tuesday's news that four key players have committed their futures to the Blades, by signing new contracts.
Skipper Billy Sharp, along with Chris Basham and Paul Coutts have penned two-year deals, with Kieron Freeman putting pen-to-paper a three-year contract.
Wilder remarked: "It's a huge boost. Supporters and media always want to know about new signings coming in to improve the group, but to get these boys to tie their immediate futures to the club is fantastic.
"I'm delighted they see their football at this club going forward. We've all got a point to prove going into the Championship and we feel all these boys can compete at that level. That's why we offered them improved terms and good length contracts."
The manager added: "The four of them were at the heartbeat of what happened last season and we've always said we would reward those who produce the goods for us. I'm loyal, but not sentimental."
