Assistant Manager Alan Knill was pleased with how the Blades acquitted themselves against Premiership opposition on Tuesday evening.
And Chris Wilder's number two was even more impressed with the victory, secured courtesy of a last-gasp strike from substitute David Brooks.
Knill remarked: "The opposition was very strong, but we produced an excellent performance. Each pre-season fixture has given us different problems and this was a few steps up against some top players.
"We did really well, we competed throughout and then to score the winner at the end was brilliant."
And Knill isn't surprised to see the players pick up in pre-season where they left off in an historic campaign in 2016/17, adding:
"Everyone is talking about moving up a level, but we believe in the players, they got us out of the division last season and we think they will do well in the league above.
"They have earnt the right to have a go, obviously we want to add players and get and we have done to make the squad stronger and things have gone quite well."
