United's first pre-season outing resulted in an emphatic victory, with Caolan Lavery helping himself to a hat-trick.
At Stocksbridge, Chris Wilder gave 22 players 45 minutes each with Thomas, Baldock, Stearman and Stevens all appearing in a Blades shirt for the first time.
Neither Blades goalkeeper was troubled at all as the visitors dominated from the start. Clarke, Carruthers, youngster Graham, Duffy and Sharp all went close before the opening goal on 21 minutes. Fleck's forward ball was laid off by Clarke and SHARP hammered into the top corner.
Within six minutes, it was 3-0. Firstly, on 25 minutes, CLARKE beat the home goalkeeper at his near post after Duffy lifted the ball over the defence and soon after a breakaway by Baldock resulted in CLARKE adding his second.
There were further chances before the break and United's new XI were quickly into their stride in the second half with Lavery going close with an overhead kick.
On 57 minutes the Blades made it 4-0 with LAVERY slotting home after a great run by Brooks, who was impressive. LAVERY added his second on 72 minutes, latching on to a short back pass and LAVERY'S hat-trick arrived on 82 minutes, slotting home a penalty after Freeman was fouled.
Late on the Blades continued to apply the pressure. On 85 minutes, BROOKS was rewarded with a goal after keeping his composure and on 88 minutes STEVENS nodded home at the back post from a Coutts cross.
The scoring was completed a minute before time with BROOKS curling into the top corner after connecting with a loose ball on the edge of the box.
