Spain or Shirecliffe

13 July 2017

John Fleck isn't sure whether or not he'd swap Spain for Shirecliffe, but admits he is looking forward to facing La Liga outfit Malaga on Friday evening.

Reflecting on what has been a tough week in the sunshine, the Scotsman remarked: "Pre-season is a toil for everyone, but I feel a lot fitter than I did last summer so it's all good.

"If we're doing ball work than Spain is lovely, but if we're running I'd rather be in the rain to keep cool at Shirecliffe.

"But it's great the new boys have settled straight in and everyone gets on really well."

On the test that awaits the Blades in Coin,
Fleck expects a challenging fixture, adding: "I expect Malaga to be good in possession and technically very good, but for us it will be good to have to work hard in the heat.

"The minutes in the legs are what matters at this stage of the season, it would nice to get a positive result but fitness is the key thing at the moment."
