United's U18s moved to the top of the Professional Development League with a convincing victory at previous leaders Nottingham Forest.
First-half goals from Horatio Hirst and Jordan Hallam put the Blades in the ascendency and another from Tyler Smith before the hour made sure of the win that saw Derek Geary's side leapfrog Forest and regain top spot.
The Blades made the perfect start at Wilford Lane as HIRST fired them into a third minute, finishing calmly from the edge of the box after a free-kick was cleared.
United, who had been well on top throughout, made it two in the 25th minute. Doherty picked a defence splitting pass to find the run Greaves and although he was denied, HALLAM was there to slot home the rebound.
Forest responded in a positive manner and looked to force the issue, but the visitors remained resolute despite heavy pressure from the Reds. In response, the Blades looked dangerous on the break, with Greaves causing problems before the break.
Following the interval, Unite were quickly out of the blocks again and made all but sure of the three points in the 57th minute. Hirst did well on the wing before playing the ball inside to Doherty, who in turn squared the ball to SMITH to finish off an excellent move.
Five minutes later it should have been four when Cantrill slid in Hallam, but the Blades striker failed to capitalise on the opening.
For the remainder of the game, there were chances at either end as the home side through everything at the Blades in search of a way back into the game, but three goals were more than enough to put the Blades back to the summit.
