Chris Wilder is confident he will see a positive reaction from his players when the Blades host Bristol City at Bramall Lane on Friday evening.
Speaking to the assembled media at Shirecliffe, reflecting on the recent loss at Millwall, Wilder is backing his players to right those wrongs against the Robins.
He commented: "The reaction from Saturday was no different to when we've lost any other game to be honest.
"I've not really learnt anything, because I'm fortunate to have an outstanding group of players.
"To do what they've done this season shows what we're about, but our standards have just slipped a little.
"It wasn't a lack of commitment, it's not a lack of trying, we just made some basic errors and weren't up to the speed you need to be in this very tough division.
"Sometimes teams just raise their games that extra notch or two and if you're not at your best, the result goes against you."
Wilder added: "Our players have raised their standards this season and we've had to and we've deserved every result we've had this year to get us in the position we're in.
"I will always give honest answers to questions I'm asked whether that's about decisions in a game or decisions I've made, I'm totally up front, but it's the players who have the biggest opportunity to influence a game."
