New deal for Leon

The Sky Bet Championship's leading scorer has signed a new contract with the Blades.

Leon Clarke has penned a new and improved deal, one that see's the striker committing his future to the club until the summer of 2020.

The experienced marksman, who was recently named Sky Bet Player of the Month for November after scoring nine times in four appearances, including two 'perfect' hat-tricks and a foul-goal haul against Hull City.

The 32-year-old, who has also skippered the team in the absence of Billy Sharp and Paul Coutts recently, has netted 14 times in total this season.

Clarke, who signed a three-year deal in the summer of 2016, follows the likes of John Fleck, David Brooks and Jack O'Connell is penning new long-term terms since the season got underway.

Boss Chris Wilder remarked: "Leon is a crucial member of the squad, who has enjoyed a tremendous campaign to date.

"We have been consistent in rewarding players who have impressed with new contracts and it's easy to see Leon fits into that category."
