Leon Clarke says it was an 'easy decision' to make, having signed a new deal at Bramall Lane on Friday.
The Sky Bet Championship's top scorer has put pen-to-paper on a new and improved contract, until the summer of 2020.
Clarke remarked: "The Gaffer spoke to me a couple of weeks ago about extending my contract and when he approached me it was an easy decision to make.
"He explained certain things to me about how I've been playing, and it was all positive, so signing a new deal was easy.
"He said I've progressed since overcoming my injuries last season and cemented my place in the team towards the end of last season.
"He feels I've took that into this season, he's happy with my work rate and my contribution to the team."
The 14-goal marksman added: "Since the start of the season I've been focused on helping us get as high up the league as possible and we're in a very good position.
"I need to add more goals to my game, the last couple of games have been difficult, but if I'm not scoring I will work hard and lead by example."
