Chris Wilder says Regan Slater making his league debut was the positive to come out of Saturday's loss at Preston North End.

And the Blades boss is demanding his side bounce back quickly from the disappointments of the defeat at Deepdale.

He remarked: "We need to show our team spirit now more than ever, it's not about having a good night out or winning a few games and thinking we've made it.

"This is hurting me, it certainly hurts the supporters, we're not doing enough and it should hurt the players too.

"When we're at we're a decent side in this division, when we're off the pace then we're not and it's proving a harsh lesson at the moment."

Of Slater's Championship bow, Wilder added: "Regan deserves to be involved and that's where we are at the moment.

"He is a good young player who we want to bring through and if there is a positive from the weekend it's him making his league debut for his boyhood club."
