United's U23s made it maximum points gained in December with a hard-fought win at Barnsley on Friday afternoon.
A late George Cantrill header was enough to edge the contest at Oakwell training ground.
The hosts looked to put the Blades on the back foot in the first-half after a scrappy opening 15 minutes with a sustained spell of pressure.
Eastwood was forced to pull off a number of fine save to deny the Reds taking the lead, notably from Palmer with a good low save, after Berkovits had fired wide
On 30 minutes, the Tykes came close to taking the lead after Adeboyajo was played in by Brown but put the ball wide of the post.
Eastwood was called into action again towards the end of the half as Berkovits struck from six yards but the goalkeeper produced another save to ensure it was goalless at the break.
Pressure would continue to be applied from Barnsley in the second period as they saw an effort cleared off of the line and another saved well by Eastwood.
As the game went on though, United grew into it and almost went in front with 15 minutes remaining only for Walton to deny Parkhouse.
However with 83 minutes on the clock, the Blades scored a decisive goal, with CANTRILL converting a Portman cross at the back post as United ended 2017 on a high.
