Chris Wilder says he could make changes for Saturday's South Yorkshire derby against Barnsley at Bramall Lane.

Speaking after Tuesday's loss at Cardiff, the Blades boss says a few players are pushing for a start as he contemplates changing his starting XI for the first time this campaign.

He commented: "Both substitutions in the second-half made an impact and the situation doesn't faze David (Brooks) at all. He is going to be a player and Ched was excellent when he came on.

"Those type of performances are what we need off the bench if things aren't going our way and they come into our thoughts for the weekend, as does Mark Duffy, who was unfortunate not to get on because of Stearman did his hamstring.

"They scored both goals as a result of us giving the ball away cheaply in poor areas, so we aren't getting battered."

Looking ahead to the weekend, Wilder added: "We'll have to assess Richard in the coming days, but that forced into using a sub. We had Duffy, Brooks and Ched and I wanted to get them all on the pitch.

"I now have to pick the right team on Saturday and it's the perfect game for us. It's a local derby, early kick-off and I'd like to think our supporters, who have been terrific on the road, will be happy come 2pm on Saturday."
