Chris Wilder says Saturday's Championship opener against Brentford at the Lane is reward for the fans, who have backed the club throughout the six seasons in League One.
Speaking ahead of the clash against Dean Smith's Bees, the boss remarked: "Saturday is great reward for the supporters belief, perseverance and love for the football club.
"They have never waived, there have been plenty of moans and groans in the last six year, but the numbers haven't changed, the backing has still been there.
"It's down to us still to give them something to shout about, but I don't doubt for a minute we will continue to get 100% of their backing."
Wilder added: "We are delighted to be back looking forward to games at a level where we definitely should be as a starting point.
"We're going into the unknown, everyone hypes the division up, but we think we've got a strong group which we want to add to, but it will be relentless.
"It's a game of football between two teams so we will give it a right go every time, the overall mindset is to win games and play on the front and be positive."
