Mark Duffy says the Carabao Cup first round tie against Walsall at Bramall Lane is an important game for the Blades and him personally.
The experienced performer is looking to make up for lost time on the pitch after a new addition to the Duffy family disrupted his pre-season preparations.
Reflecting on the close season activity, he commented: "It's been a long summer for me, the missus went over longer than we expected. I missed the trip to Marbella and then she went into labour on the evening of the Chesterfield game.
"Thankfully everything is OK now, but I must look to catch up and I will work hard to so do.
"Training wise I'm not behind, but I've not had enough minutes and the Walsall game is a great opportunity for me to get those important minutes under my belt."
And United have a score to settle with Jon Whitney's side after the Saddlers beat the Blades three times last term.
Duffy added: "Walsall just seemed to have the better of us last season, with a little bit of luck too.
"They were very lucky when they won at the Lane in the league, they had one chance and scored, we created chances, had two goals disallowed and Billy had a penalty saved.
"At their place, they simply played better than us and deserved to beat us, so we owe them one."
