Chris Basham says the Blades are relishing the return to the Championship, with the action poised to get underway.
United host Brentford on Saturday, as Bramall Lane gets set for second tier action for the first time in over six years and Basham says United are ready.
He remarked: "We're very excited about the first game and the season ahead. We've had a great pre-season and it all must come together now for what is a long campaign.
"We've spoken to Jack (O'Connell) about Brentford as he was there previously and he says they are a side that doesn't get spoke about much, but they could always threaten the play-offs and possibly the top two.
"The manager and his staff have worked us hard all week about how we combat Brentford and that will be the case throughout the season."
