Blades boss Chris Wilder has confirmed that Caolan Lavery will miss the remainder of the season.
The striker limped off towards the end of the draw at Oldham Athletic last month and scans have confirmed some knee ligament damage that will rule him out for the foreseeable future.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday night's clash against Coventry City at Bramall Lane, Wilder remarked: "We're in good health, apart from Caolan, who will be missing for the rest of the campaign.
"His scan results have confirmed what we feared could be the problem and he will unfortunately be sidelined until the summer.
"It's disappointing for us and Caolan, but it is an impact injury and unfortunately there is nothing we can do about them.
"What is pleasing though is as a group we are powering towards the finishing line and that's testimony to work the players have been put through and completed themselves."
