The EFL has announced the winners of the first ever Away Fan Experience Campaign.
We are proud to reveal that Sheffield United has been crowned League One Away Fan Experience winners, with their matchday experience being highly commended by visiting fans to Bramall Lane.
Brighton & Hove Albion (Championship) and Crewe Alexandra (League Two) are the other confirmed divisional victors, with the campaign's aim to uncover examples of positive away-days amongst loyal supporters.
Regular away fans across the 72 clubs have played their part by sharing their experiences when travelling to watch their team play at an opposition's stadium. The supporters' feedback offers clubs a unique insight into the quality of experience supporters have when visiting their stadiums.
United's Supporter Liaison Officer John Garrett remarked: "All at Sheffield United are delighted to win the Away Fan Excellence Award for League One.
"We take the experience of fans coming to Bramall Lane very seriously and want to make sure that they enjoy the day. We send each club our visitor guide giving directions, recommendations for car parking, family safe venues and ticket information in advance - a comprehensive guide.
"We must praise our matchday Liaison Officers for the work they do. If you have a new, purpose built ground it is so much easier - but Bramall Lane is a proper traditional stadium and, as a result we have to work that little bit harder.
"All fans should be treated properly and with respect - we value them and what they bring."
The Football Supporters Federation (FSF) has supported the EFL in researching and supporting the work around the Away Fan Experience Campaign.
The EFL is proud to support the many football fans who follow their clubs on the road each season and would like to congratulate all of the clubs who have been recognised through these Awards.
United's SLO added: "Plans are already underway for next season to expand the successful SLO project further and to improve the fan guide and overall experience even more.
"The award, on the back of the Family Excellence award last year, is proof of the hard work put in behind the scenes by all at the Lane"
