Bristol City 1-7 U18s - report

12 September 2016

United's U18s returned to winning ways in emphatic style at the weekend.

The Blades put seven past Bristol City in the West Country to bounce back in the best possible manner following a 4-3 defeat at Crewe Alexandra previously.

The visitors were in command throughout with trialist Casey Stewart and Keegan Burton both netting doubles, as Joseph Cummings, Alex Brown and Tyler Smith also got on the scoresheet to complete the rout against the Robins.

STEWART got the ball rolling for the Blades in the 13th minute scoring on the rebound after Cummings had seen a header hit the post.
Seven minutes later, CUMMINGS wasn't to be denied as he scored at the back post from Hallam's corner.

Before the break, BURTON netted a quick fire brace. Firstly, he rounded the goalkeeper from Hallam's through ball before calmly slotting home, then the striker headed home after good work down the left by Tyler Smith.

Within five minutes of the restart, the Blades had a fifth, as BROWN scored from close range with Smith again the architect, this time down the right channel. In the 53rd minute, United's left-back was in the thick of the action again, but this time he scored an unfortunate own-goal.

It proved nothing more than a blip though, just before the hour mark, STEWART got on the end of Burton's flick on before smashing home into the top corner.

And with less than 10 minutes remaining, SMITH deservedly got a goal, scoring at the second attempt, with Gilmour claiming the assist.

Blades: Perryman, Charlesworth (Portman 73), Brown, Gilmour, Graham, Cummings, T. Smith, Slater, Burton (Potts 86), Stewart (Ford 61), Hallam.
Unused: Warhurst, Holmes.
