Since entering the Women's FA Cup for the first time eight years ago United have entered the competition every season since and enjoyed some decent runs along the way.
For the 2017 competition United entered at the second qualifying round and travelled to Bradford Park Avenue.
United captain Rosa Neary recalled: "We started slow but once I was able to head us into a lead (after 18 minutes) the floodgates opened." Further goals by Kim Brown (23), Tania Marsden (31) and Brown again just before the break made it four.
Neary added: "We played some neat football down the right with Sophie Bell playing in some great balls and set up six of our goals."
Bell herself got number five (65), Brown completed her hat-trick on 70 minutes then Hickerman (72) and Brown yet again rounded off the scoring on 84 minutes.
So a comfortable victory at this stage for United. A much harder draw for the next round, though, with a trip to Chester-le-Street, against whom United last played in the Northern Premier League in 2014-15 losing both times.
Blades: Johnson, Wainwright, Neary, Hopkinson, Hartley, Hickerman, Hall, Darbyshire, Bell, Brown, Marsden. Subs: Spurr (Hall), Ruddach (Darbyshire).
