Sheffield United Ladies have secured the signatures of two strikers to spearhead their challenge for honours this season.
Since veteran forward Tania Marsden was forced to go part-time due to other commitments, midfielders Sophie Bell and Kim Brown have been deployed in more advanced roles.
But the Blades have acted quickly to sign Melissa Celi and Annalise Carroll.
Celi 24, netted twice on her debut to get her career as a Blade off to a flying start. Italian born Celi has previously spent six years with Bari based ASD Pink Sport Time in Serie B.
She commented: "I'm really happy to have joined United, having studied at Sheffield Hallam University.
"We have a great group of ladies and hopefully I can contribute a good number of goals this season."
Meanwhile, Carroll 21, who hails from Rotherham rejoins United having spent four seasons with Sheffield Wednesday where she hit 28 goals last term.
Carroll, who has also opened her account this season, commented: "I'm delighted to be back amongst such a great bunch of girls.
"I'm excited about what we can achieve this season and I want to score lots of goals."
