The Sheffield United Community Foundation will again be running it's highly successful Fit Fans project again this year, with two new courses due to start in the near future.
The Sheffield United Fit Fans project utilises the relationship with supporters and their professional football team. The quality of dietary and exercise information (currently available to elite athletes) has now been tailored to address the health needs of a target population.
The Fit Fans project is first and foremost an educational programme. Over 12-weeks participants will receive relevant topics on nutrition and physical activity.
The topics that have been selected are clear in their message, offering a straightforward and practical approach to lifestyle changes. Interspersed with advice and support are important health messages that offer sound reasoning for adopting healthier lifestyles.
An important component of each Fit Fans session is to provide a physical activity environment that educates participants on the importance of movement, a primary goal being to teach individuals the correct techniques to adopt whilst offering an opportunity for monitoring performance, using the iconic spaces at Bramall Lane to inspire healthy lifestyle choices.
