U18s coach Derek Geary described United's performance in Wednesday's FA Youth Cup success at FC Halifax Town as a 'professional display'.
The Blades cruised into the third round of the aforementioned competition with a 5-1 win at The Shay, with Callum Semple, Tyler Smith, Sam Graham and David Parkhouse all scoring in the second period after Keegan Burton had given United a half-time lead.
And Geary, who was understandably pleased to set up a tie against Preston North End, was most impressed with the application of his young side against the Shaymen.
He remarked: "We knew it was a potential banana skin and we emphasised to the lads that we had to match Halifax's work rate for the opening 20-25 minutes to stop them getting a belief of causing an upset.
"We did that and I was always confident that our quality would shine through and thankfully it did.
"I was delighted with our start, we were positive and could have gone in front before we did, but overall we dominated the majority of the game and didn't really give them a sniff.
Geary added: "We have come through the tie and move on to Preston now, of course that will be tougher and we will need to improve further, but this was a professional display."
"At 1-0 at half-time the game was in the balance, but we came out quickly in the second-half and killed the game off with a couple of goals.
"I was always confident we would come through this tie, but the desire and determination of the players pleased me immensely."
