Gaffer's Coventry verdict

1 May 2016

United's play-off qualification hopes ended at Coventry City on Saturday, following a 3-1 defeat.

Afterwards, Nigel Adkins faced the media to offer his thoughts.

He said: "We started poorly and a deflected goal in the first couple of minutes gave them the advantage and then we were two down.

"After that we responded well, showed a little creativity but it didn't seem like it was going to happen. We continued to knock on the door, particularly after Billy's penalty, but we were then hit by a sucker punch.

"We needed a victory but didn't get what we came for, we didn't create pressure into chances, there were plenty of 'oohs and 'aahs' bit we didn't get the fortune we needed."

The Blades now have one league remaining of the 2015-16 campaign - a home encounter with Scunthorpe United next Sunday, who can still make the play-offs.

Adkins added: "All I'm interested in at the moment is winning the next game. We have been playing some good football lately and I'd like that to continue."
