Call-up for young keeper

16 March 2016

Blades Academy goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been named in the latest England U18s squad.

It is the 17-year-old Stoke-on-Trent-born youngster's first call up, although he has been on national squad training camps at St George's Park previously

He is in the squad for forthcoming fixtures against Austria and Republic of Ireland and is one of just two goalkeepers named by U18s head coach Neil Dewsnip.

The Young Lions fly out to Vienna on Sunday (20th March) ahead of the game against their Austrian counterparts at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt on Wednesday (23rd March, 6.30pm kick-off local time).

Dewsnip's squad then return to England to host the Republic of Ireland for a behind-closed-doors fixture at St George's Park on Sunday (27th March, 12.30pm kick-off).

Ramsdale has been impressive for United's U18s and U21s this season, including a fine performance in a 2-0 success over Bolton at U21s level at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.
