Earlier this week, the Blades were dealt a potential major injury blow.
Fans favourite John Brayford didn't feature in Wednesday's loss at Southend, having sustained in training, an injury boss Nigel Adkins described as a 'freak' accident.
Speaking post-match at Roots Hall, the Gaffer remarked: "John Brayford looks to have suffered a nasty calf injury, it appears to be a serious one and it came from nowhere towards the end of a training session at the beginning of the week.
"There was nobody near him, he just kicked the ball and you could see straight away he was in trouble, it was a freak accident, so he'll be scanned and we'll take it from there.
"We have got our fingers crossed, but for now we will have to wait for the full diagnosis."
In other news, Adkins is hoping for better luck with Alex Baptiste, who has missed the last two games with a hamstring problem, picked up at Millwall.
He added: "Alex is back in training and looking strong. He will train on Friday with the rest of the group and hopefully come into contention for the weekend."
