Basham remains upbeat

1 March 2016

Chris Basham says the belief within the dressing room remains strong as United prepare to welcome league leaders Burton Albion to Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening.

Basham though has acknowledged the Blades must quickly find their best form and add consistency to their game in pursuit of a top six finish.

But he believes there aren't too far away from finding that elusive formula, he remarked:

"Obviously we were really frustrated with the result at Rochdale but, as strange as it sounds, I was also really encouraged because of the way we played.

"Honestly, if we carry that performance on then I think it could be the start of a good run, a run we desperately need.

"We shot ourselves in the foot by conceding the first goal, but there's no doubt we could have been three or four up by then.

"We've just got to sure we make pressure like that, which we had for about 70 minutes, count."

Basham added: "There's still a positive feeling behind the scenes. Yes, of course what happened at Rochdale was gutting in terms of the result but the performance, in my opinion, can stand us in good stead if we can keep it going.

"The new system suits us well and gives us a good base. It helps us get the players we want in certain positions on the ball exactly where we want them."
