Diego departs

24 June 2016

United can confirm that Diego De Girolamo has left the club, by mutual consent.

The striker, who made just one first-team appearance during the 2015-16 campaign, has agreed to an early termination on the remaining year of his contract, to enable him to find another club.

The 20-year-old made his Blades debut at Coventry City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in December 2012, before missing the entire 2013-14 season with a serious knee injury.

Under Nigel Clough, De Girolamo made five appearances and scored his only senior goal in red and white shirt, the equaliser in a third round FA Cup tie against Preston North End at Deepdale in January 2015.

In total, the forward made 10 senior appearances for the Blades.
