Wilder adds to backroom staff

21 July 2016

Chris Wilder has added an experienced and well respected member to his backroom staff.

Sheffielder Paul Mitchell, who most recently enjoyed a hugely successful time with Chesterfield, has joined United as Head of Recruitment/Development and has already played a role in assisting in bringing in the likes of Jack O'Connell, John Fleck and Jake Wright.

Mitchell brings with him a wealth of experience of local and national talent and prior to his position at the Proact Stadium, he was a successful non-league manager with Gainsborough Trinity, Worksop Town and Alfreton Town.

On joining the Blades, he remarked: "To be joining and assisting my hometown club is a proud moment for my family and myself and now the hard work starts as we look to identify talent at all levels and assess future opponents.

"Although this is the first time we have worked together, I've known Chris and Alan Knill for many years, I like their philosophy on the game and I'm delighted that they believe I can help.

"There's been a lot of discussions with members of staff at the club and what pleases me most is that we have a clear view on how we take this club forward.

Boss Chris Wilder is delighted to have got a man he knows well, he added: "Paul is greatly respected in the region and we are delighted to be able to bring him in. We had a number of options but he was the best fit for the project we have and he's already settled in with the rest of the staff."‚Äč
